Electrophoresis
Under certain conditions, the distance traveled by a charged particle per unit time (i.e., mobility) under the action of a unit electric field intensity is a constant, which is the physicochemical characteristic constant of the charged particle. Different charged particles are separated from each other due to their different charges, or because they have the same charge but different charge to mass ratios. After electrophoresis in the same electric field for a certain period of time, they move apart due to different distances. The separation distance is proportional to the voltage of the applied electric field and the electrophoresis time.
Under the action of an external DC power supply, colloidal particles move in a directional direction towards the cathode or anode in a dispersion medium. This phenomenon is called electrophoresis. Using electrophoresis to separate substances is also called electrophoresis. The colloid has electrophoresis, which proves that the colloidal particles are charged. Various colloidal particles differ in nature, adsorbing different ions, and therefore carrying different charges.
