Q: Director Song Tao recently held a discussion with Taiwanese businessmen from Taiwan in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province. In response to the benefits of reunification, he said that as long as the one China principle is followed, what Taiwanese people want can be discussed. How do you understand this? Please further explain what benefits the reunification of the country will bring to Taiwan?
Zhu Fenglian: The mainland and Taiwan belong to the same China, China's national sovereignty and territory have never been divided, and the fact that both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to the same China has never changed. The one China principle is the political foundation of cross-strait relations. Realizing national reunification on the basis of the one China principle is a historical trend and a righteous path. After reunification, Taiwan compatriots will enjoy tangible benefits.
After reunification, Taiwan can implement a social system different from that of the mainland. On the premise of ensuring national sovereignty, security, and development interests, the social systems and lifestyles of Taiwan compatriots will be fully respected, and the private property, religious beliefs, and legitimate rights and interests of Taiwan compatriots will be fully protected.
After reunification, cross-strait economic cooperation has become more institutionalized and institutionalized. With the mainland market as the vast hinterland, Taiwan's economy has greater space for development, stronger competitiveness, more stable and smooth industrial chain supply chains, and more vibrant innovation vitality.
