How to use the paint spray gun

1. Add appropriate diluent to adjust the viscosity to the appropriate level. If it is too thick, the spray particles will be too thick. If it is too thin, it will be easy to sag and affect the next process;

2. The air pressure is best controlled at 0.3-0.4MPa. If the pressure is too small, the paint liquid will be poorly atomized, and the surface will form pits. If the pressure is too large, it is easy to sag, and the paint mist is too large, which not only wastes materials but also affects the health of the operator;

3. The distance between the nozzle and the object surface is generally 200-300mm; if it is too close, it is easy to sag, and if it is too far, it is easy to produce pitting, and if the nozzle is far away from the object surface, the paint will scatter during painting, causing waste. The specific size of the distance should be based on the paint. The type, viscosity and air pressure can be adjusted appropriately;

4. The spray gun can be moved up and down, left and right, preferably at a speed of 20-30cm/s, and the nozzle should be sprayed straight on the surface of the object, and oblique spraying should be minimized.

Matters needing attention in spraying paint spray gun: .

1. The commonly used method of holding the gun is to hold the gun with the thumb, little finger and ring finger, and the middle finger to pull the trigger. You can also use the thumb and palm with the little finger to hold the gun, the middle finger is used to pull the trigger, and the index finger is used to stabilize the gun.

2. Keep perpendicular to the workpiece surface and keep a reasonable distance. The surface of the workpiece often has various arcs. The main point of spraying the whole plate is to move the spray gun while keeping the spray gun at 90° to the working surface, and move at the same distance as the surface and at a stable and consistent speed, otherwise it will lead to uneven coating. Areas that are too thick can cause sagging, while areas with thinner coatings can result in leveling9, poor brightness, or orange peel.

3. The moving speed of the spray gun is usually 30~60cm/s, which depends on the type of paint and spraying requirements, and is also related to the overlap of the spray width. - In general, the overlap of the guns in the first pass is 1/2, and the overlap of the guns in the second and third passes is 3/4 or 2/3. The moving speed of the spray gun should be moderate and stable. If the moving speed is too fast, the coating will appear too dry, and the leveling and gloss clarity will be poor; if the moving speed is too slow, the coating will be too thick and sag.

4. When spraying the base paint mist, 1/2 overlap is often used and the spray gun is moved quickly to spray a thinner coating. The nozzle position of the spray gun should be just facing the upper edge during the first spraying, and when moving in the opposite direction for the second spraying, the nozzle position should be facing the lower edge of the paint sprayed in the first spraying, and the overlap is 1/2.

5. The spraying route should be carried out in the order from high to low, from right to left, from top to bottom, and from inside to outside. Spray the corners or edges first and then start from the top end of the workpiece.
